Green Supply Chain Management
Galaxy Surfactants is committed to no deforestation and no conversion in its palm oil supply chain. To fulfil this commitment, we conduct frequent on-site audits of our suppliers to ensure compliance with our deforestation policies.

As an ordinary member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2012 and certified for Mass Balance and Segregation supply chain model, Galaxy underscores its dedication to sustainable practices. Each year, Galaxy performs an Oil Palm Traceability cycle, requesting detailed information from suppliers about the origins of their palm-based derivatives, including plantations, mills, crushers, and refineries. This data is consolidated into comprehensive lists of all associated mills and plantations, promoting transparency and monitoring the palm oil's origins. We aim to achieve 100% traceability to mill and plantation level by 2030. Inline with our commitment, we are more than 97% traceable to mill level and more than 47% till plantations. Also, as our commitment to responsible sourcing, we had avoided over 75000 MT of CO2 emissions due to sourcing of RSPO certified raw materials. We aim to avoid 1 Lac MT of CO2 emissions by 2030 through such responsible sourcing practices. 37% of our palm based raw materials are certified (VDF, NDPE IRF) as deforestation and conversion free. We are also committed to No Deforestation, No Peat and No Exploitation (NDPE) principles. Under our NDPE commitments, we strive to avoid deforestation in our supply chain post December 31st, 2020. Over 80 % of Galaxy's upstream partners are NDPE committed. To ensure they follow Galaxy's sustainability standards, we circulate a supplier sustainability questionnaire. This is a critical tool used to assess the sustainability achievements and growth of its suppliers. This assessment helps Galaxy identify areas where suppliers excel and areas that require further improvement, facilitating targeted support and development initiatives. In addition to these proactive measures, Galaxy performs regular on-site audits of its suppliers. These audits are conducted to ensure compliance with Galaxy's sustainability and traceability standards. The on-site audits involve a thorough examination of the suppliers' operations, including their sourcing practices, environmental impact, and adherence to labor and ethical standards. By conducting these audits, Galaxy can ensure that its suppliers are genuinely committed to sustainable practices and that any discrepancies are addressed promptly.

One of the cornerstone initiatives of Galaxy's commitment to sustainability and transparency in the palm oil supply chain is its flagship supplier engagement program, GalSustain. This program is designed to foster a culture of transparency and promote sustainable practices among suppliers. Through GalSustain, suppliers are encouraged and supported in improving the traceability of their operations and adopting more sustainable practices. The program not only sets a benchmark for suppliers but also provides them with the tools and guidance needed to achieve higher standards of sustainability.
